It has been 8 months since the Zimbabwean music industry lost an icon/hero/legend Dr Oliver ‘Samanyanga’ Mtukudzi to diabetes.

The late Oliver Mtukudzi, also known as ‘Tuku' (short for Mtukudzi) was a singer-songwriter, actor, writer, film director and entrepreneur. With over 60 albums to his name, he was one of Zimbabwe's top musicians and lead of the band The Black Spirits.

The Afro-Jazz legend had his own music label ‘Tuku Music’. His career spanned 5 decades from the 70s to the 2010s, having started in 1975 when he did his debut single Stop after Orange. He was one of the few Zimbabwean artists whose music has international appeal.

Such an inspiring life history has left a lot of artists around the world with much more to learn. As a token of their appreciation to the late Dr Mtukudzi a memorial concert and brithday bash will be held next week Friday.

The Concert being held at Glamis Arena, Harare, Zimbabwe will see Micasa (South Africa), Amayenge and James Sakala (Zambia) and Alick Macheso, Winky D, Jah Prayzah, Soul Jah Love, Enzo Ishal, Tocky Vybz, Black Spirits, Diana Samukange and more performing live.
