The Beitbridge District medical officer issued a memorandum on 9 October 2019 to all departments that the Beitbridge District Hospital has temporarily suspended mortuary operations with immediate effect.

This decision has been brought about as a result of the lengthy power cuts and high temperatures being experienced hence rendering the mortuary equipment non-functional said the district medical officer

The power cuts in Zimbabwe have increased upto 10hrs per day some areas up to 15 hrs a day. It is a taunting site to see a decomposing body in a mutuary due to lack of electricity. Imagine being a mortuary worker, would you look forward to going to work.
