Up to 100, Chipinge villagers had a day to remember when they looted fish from an accident scene involving three foreign tourists travelling from Chiredzi to Mutare.

According to an eye witness Claris Madhuku, the Toyota Landcruiser which was pulling a trailer full of fish overturned along the Ngundu-Tanganda highway, though no one was injured.

“The reason for the accident was a combination of speed and mechanical fault. The trailer carrying a dam of fish lopsided first in response to sudden breaking causing the car to overturn twice. We helped to disconnect the battery from the car since fuel was now spilling with a possibility of the car catching fire.

“With the villagers who had gathered we assisted the trio to get their most treasured items inclusive of their cell phones and monies. In appreciation the trio allowed the community to get bream fish in appreciation of their benevolence. There was enough for up to 100 community members,” said Madhuku.
