A report by Mutare City Council shows that health workers (nurses) are in difficult times with their landlords as they re being burnished from their rented house. This is happening because the landlords are afraid of contacting coronavirus.

A situation report released this week by the Council narrates a piece of serious information faced by the health workers who are on the front line of fighting COVID-19.

The report said there has been a recent rise in the eviction of health workers particularly in the high-density suburb of Sakubva and some were complaining of failing to report for duty after they were thrown out of their lodgings.

The report lamented health care worker fatigue and burnouts as they are forced to work round the clock with a lack of psycho-social support and allowances.

The whole of Manicaland has recorded 281 coronavirus cases with 9 deaths, 93 recoveries and 9 deaths are from Mutare with the city recorded 100 confirmed cases and 27 recoveries.

The Council recommended that companies scale-down on staff members reporting for duty with the introduction of e-working, the continuation of the 6 PM to 6 AM curfew and the continued closure of social public areas
