This comes after it emerged that Zimbos were taking advantage of the shore leave to disappear into the United States.

It was all good when Cruise ships were recruiting Zimbos last year with a chartered plane flying Zimbos to Bahamas for visas for free, but now the situation has changed drastically in 2023.
Some of the Zimbos are allegedly skipping the borders heading to Canada to claim asylum and some of the them just melt into the USA. This has led Miami Immigration to issue an order that bans Zimbos on Cruise ships from disembarking. The order says Zimbos should remain onboard.
The rate of those disappearing for good has reportedly reached alarming levels. Cruise ship operators like Royal Caribbean are now sending back Zimbos without experience.
For some, it is lack of professionalism. Some are getting drunk on the job and being fired. There is a rise in the number of folks being found on the wrong side.
One member commented that ship life is not for the faint hearted and it is tough. In most cases workers on cruise ships have to work for 10+ hours per day. The salaries good by Zimbabwe standards but it is hard earned money as there is real work to be done.

Zimbabwe had a good record but now our country's risk profile is getting soiled as many Zimbos are absconding from Cruise liners. This means it is going to be tougher for Zimbos to access visas from now on.
One Zimbabwean working at the cruise ships commented that this exposé is contrary to the spirit of assisting members. He suggested that this should have been kept in-house.
Another Zimbo cruise ship worker encouraged fellow Zimbos to join in before restrictions become too tight. He said:
