Bogus War Veterans have been arrested for conning desperate land seekers out of thousands of dollars with false promises.

The two were arrested after all their false promises to unsuspecting victims in Banket, where they live.
Two senior individuals, Perpetual Chimuti (57) and Pedzisa Chikari (46), find themselves in custody awaiting a bail application following accusations of defrauding land seekers of more than US$66,000.
Chimuti and Chikari purportedly operated a fraudulent task force, falsely claiming to raise funds for the welfare of war veterans in Banket.
Operating through social media channels, the duo created multiple groups, each comprising 120 to 150 members.
Within these groups, they solicited cash amounts ranging from US$10 to US$1,500, citing reasons such as administration costs, fuel expenses, and general welfare for war veterans in Banket.

Allegedly, some of the collected funds were earmarked for processing offer letters.
Chimuti and Chikari toured various areas, including Zvimba, Makonde, Rafingora, and Banket, to further deceive their victims, showcasing purported farms in Mashonaland West Province.
Tragically, the victims fell prey to this elaborate scheme, losing a substantial sum of US$66,000.
The whereabouts of the accomplices involved in this fraudulent activity remain unknown.
Many people have fallen victim to bogus estate agents when they seek to buy land and properties.

Late in January, two fake estate agents were charged with fraud after tricking people out of US$ 198,000.
Land Seekers have been warned to do their due diligence when looking for properties or land to buy.
Some pose as government officials, while others sell one property to multiple individuals.
