Harare Doctor Implicated in Narcotics Trade

Dr Tanaka Chimuka, a Harare doctor, finding himself at the centre of a troubling controversy involving a drug syndicate.

Dr. Chimuka, known for his work at Chimuka Surgery located in Milton Park, has been implicated in a scandal involving the illegal distribution of controlled substances within the gated Arlington Estate in Harare.

Accompanying him in this legal ordeal are Tapiwa Mutebuka, a nurse at Milton Park Medical Centre, and Sam Chasaya, a pharmacy technician.

According to H-Metro, their troubles began when authorities from the CID drugs division received intelligence suggesting their involvement in the illicit trade of pethidine, a potent narcotic, within Harare and its surrounding areas.

According to reports presented in court last Monday, the trio allegedly utilized unconventional methods, such as bike deliveries, to distribute these harmful substances discreetly.

An operation was promptly set in motion based on this information.

Authorities intercepted Olsa Mpamhanga, a courier en route to deliver the contraband, and seized a substantial quantity of pethidine, along with a cache of injection needles.

During questioning, Mpamhanga pointed fingers at Dr. Chimuka as the mastermind behind the operation.

In response, Dr. Chimuka implicated Mutebuka, accusing him of facilitating the distribution.

Mutebuka, in turn, shifted blame onto Chasaya, citing him as the source of the illicit substances.

These damning revelations led to their appearance before Magistrate Ruth Moyo, where they were granted bail set at US$100 each.
