A 37-year-old Zimbabwean man, identified as Lovemore Sithole, is facing the possibility of execution in Botswana after being convicted of selling his 6-year-old stepson for ritual purposes.
The horrifying crime, which reportedly earned Sithole $15,000 USD (about 200,000 Botswana Pula), has left communities in both Botswana and Zimbabwe in a state of profound shock and outrage.
Earlier this year, Sithole was accused of orchestrating a gruesome scheme where he trafficked his stepson to individuals allegedly involved in ritual sacrifices.
According to reports, Sithole negotiated with the ritualists, agreeing to hand over the child in exchange for a substantial sum of money.
Tragically, this sinister transaction culminated in the unimaginable suffering and death of the young boy.

A month after the child was reported missing, Botswana authorities made a grim discovery—a human skull in an area suspected to be linked to ritualistic activities.
DNA analysis later confirmed the remains belonged to the missing child, solidifying suspicions of Sithole’s involvement in the heinous crime.
Botswana law enforcement acted swiftly following the discovery of the remains.
Sithole was arrested shortly after that, and investigations revealed his direct role in facilitating the sale of the boy to the ritualists.
