Thomas Mapfumo Loses Entire Album in Computer Crash
Zimbabwean music legend Thomas Mapfumo has lost an entire unreleased 15 track album in a computer crash.
This came to light after Tracktown Studios, based in Eugene (Oregon, USA), claimed they lost his entire 15 track album and they had no backup.
The studio said they only managed to recover 2 tracks from the 15 track album.
Speaking to Nehanda Radio, Mapfumo (74) said he was meant to have released the album before Christmas but now there was no way of recovering the album which was lost.
He has to re-record the album at a further expense which includes raising US$1600 to pay the session musicians they have to use.
