Dominican Convent School Officials Refuse To Open School Gates Demanding $27k School Fees
Reports just received indicate that pupils at Dominican Convent in Harare have been closed out of school as the school is demanding full payment of $27000 school fees.
According to parents at the school, the school has not opened. Pictures from the scene show parents and students waiting outside the Catholic school as the school officials refuse to open the school gates.
One parent said, she arrived at 06:08 at the school and up to now at 07:30, the school hasn’t opened. Word is they are demanding parents pay $27000 per child.
The school hiked the fees for 2020 in November last year and demanded that the fees be paid in full before the end of the year ” in view of the inflationary pressure in our economic environment.”
The school advised parents and guardians who felt they will not be able to afford the fees to advise the school by 6th December so that “we offer those who are on the waiting list.”
Find below the letter to parents from the school:
Following the SDC EGM on Monday 18th November, the 2020 first term fees will be as follows:
- Form 1-4 – $12 500.00
- Form 5-6 – $15 000.00
In view of the inflationary pressure in our economic environment, the initial fee of $3 600.00 must be paid up by Friday 29 November 2019, and the balance of $8 900 by Tuesday 31 December 2019.
Should you find you will be unable to continue with us, please let us know by 6 December 2019, so that we offer those who are on the waiting list.
Failure to pay the initial $3 600.00 by the stated date will be taken to mean that you have declined the offer.
