ZUPCO In A 100% Fare Hike
ZUPCO has hiked its fare by 100% . Commuters in who were paying $2 per trip will now pay $4 for the same trip while commuters who were paying $4 to board ZUPCO omnibuses will now pay $8.
Commuters that spoke to the publication lamented the passenger company’s lack of communication on the fare hike as they said they only got to know about the fare hike while boarding the buses to go to work:

Honestly, there was need for Zupco officials to make use of formal communication channels to announce bus fare hikes. We cannot have a situation where we just wake up to social media messages that fares have been increased only to learn that it’s actually the reality. Zupco should communicate in time when it intends to hike fares so that as commuters we are not caught unaware- James Chiseko
Efforts to get a comment from ZUPCO by the publication failed. However social media was awash with reports that in various parts of the country ZUPCO fares had doubled. ZUPCO last increased their fares in March 2020.
