“Zimbabwe is a sovereign state, it will always put its Bills first… You can’t go around speaking badly about your country.”

Zimbabwe's Minister of Information And Communications Monica Mutsvangwa on their country's state and more ahead of elections.

This interview of Zimbabwe's Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa is painful to watch. At least the world gets to experience our ruling political elites without intermediaries involved. This is our daily life in Zimbabwe.

CCC activist Takudzwa Ngadziore observed that Monica Mutsvangwa's responses “reveal a poor understanding of the contextual framework”.

The Monica Mutsvangwa interview is a great example of why we need new leaders. It lacks depth, basic Ordinary Level content & reveals a poor understanding of the contextual framework. How do you say the bill is meant to have Zimbabweans love their country 😂 ! We love Zimbabwe.

Exiled Setfree Mafukudze described the minister as “the most embarrassing individual in the past 24hrs.”

The award for the most embarrassing individual in Zimbabwe within the past 24 hours goes to Monica Mutsvangwa. When the Ministry of Information was noted as a poor performer among other Ministries this is exactly what they meant. Information portfolio is in a mess, let's hope after 23 August new faces take charge in those offices.

Nyasha McBride Mpani said it was because Zimbabwe government chefs are accustomed to Rueben Barwe-style interviews.

Becoming accustomed to Reuben Barwe-style of tv questioning poses risks that can make it challenging when confronted with interviews from genuine journalists. Give mai Mutsvangwa a glass of water please.

Former president Emmerson Mnangagwa's advisor, and media mogul Trevor Ncube described Monica Mutsvangwa's interview as embarrassing.

This is so embarrassing. Why did Monica agree to do the interview? The Minister’s interview has done damage to Zimbabwe. Such mediocrity.
