Yesterday, the music world was left in shock as popular Lesotho-born rapper, singer, and songwriter Malome Vector lost his life in a devastating car accident in the Free State. The heartbreaking incident also claimed the lives of two of his crew members, Lizwi Lokuqula and Puleng Phoofolo.
Late last night, Ambitiouz Entertainment, Malome Vector's record label, released a brief statement: “With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of a shining star. The Lion of Lesotho's sun has set. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and industry peers during this time of profound loss. Rest in peace, Malome Vector.”
According to SABC News, the accident occurred when a light motor vehicle collided with a heavy motor vehicle on the N1 near the Koppies off-ramp. Five people were in the car, and while two were transferred to the hospital in critical but stable condition, the three men tragically lost their lives at the scene. The artist's managers have been informed about the devastating incident.
Malome Vector, whose real name was Bokang Moleli, moved to Johannesburg in 2019 to pursue his music career. His debut single “Karabo” in 2020 caught the attention of Ambitiouz Entertainment, an independent label known for nurturing raw talent.

Soon after, Malome Vector collaborated with heavyweight artists like Cassper Nyovest, Blaq Diamond, and Wave Rhyder. His unique blend of hip-hop, trap, and melodic sounds incorporated elements of his native Sesotho language and culture.
A devoted fan of the late HHP, Malome Vector was celebrated for his authentic storytelling in his music.
Since news of his passing broke, fellow artists have flooded social media with heartfelt condolences. Gqom artist Babes Wodumo, who herself experienced loss when her husband and fellow musician, Mampintsha, passed away two years ago, expressed disbelief.
Lesotho National Broadcasting Services also paid tribute, calling it “an incredible loss to the entertainment world.” They extended their deepest sympathies to Malome Vector's family and fans.
Botswana musician Vee Mampeezy shared a poignant message: “Rest well, my brother. Malome Vector. We had plans to collaborate on a song, and now you're gone. May God comfort your family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.”
