Former Kwekwe Nurse Convicted for Unauthorized Surgeries
Admire Munyeki, a former nurse from Mbizo 5, Kwekwe, has been found guilty of performing four unauthorized surgeries in Gokwe.
The case was heard before Gokwe Magistrate Grace Tupiri, where Munyeki faced charges related to contravening the medical act by practicing as a medical practitioner without proper authorization. He pleaded guilty to the allegations.
Munyeki carried out surgical procedures on four individuals who sought his help for various health issues. Here are the details of the incidents:
On January 5, 2024, at Givemore Masteck homestead in Maluma 2, Chief Samuchembu, Gokwe North, Munyeki posed as a dental practitioner. Stella Sibanda, suffering from a toothache, approached him.
Munyeki extracted two teeth, but Sibanda experienced pain afterward. She reported the incident to Samuchembu rural health center, leading to the discovery of Munyeki's unauthorized practice.
Former Kwekwe Nurse Convicted for Unauthorized Surgeries
On March 1, 2024, Munyeki performed a circumcision on Daison Chelo, who complained of penile pain. Unfortunately, Chelo faced complications, and he reported the matter to Samuchembu Health Center, where the offense came to light.
Munyeki also presented himself as a medical doctor and operated on Taimon Ndege, who had a hernia. Ndege developed complications and was later taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where the unauthorized surgery was discovered.
In addition, Munyeki pretended to be a medical practitioner and performed a minor surgery on Erisha Siakachoma's neck, removing a growth. The complainant reported the incident at Semchembu Health Center.
Another Fake Doctor Exposed at Pari
Munyeki's arrest occurred after he was spotted at a funeral in the Chirape area of Gokwe North on Monday. His sentencing is scheduled for Thursday.
