Trio Arrested as Man Dies in Fight Over Girlfriend

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have arrested three people connected to the fatal assault of Mlamuleli Mangena.

The police have also launched a manhunt for three other suspects involved in the deadly attack. The deceased, Mlamuleli Mangena, was fatally attacked at Forest H60 Mine on October 3, 2024.

According to police reports, a violent confrontation over a romantic rivalry escalated when six assailants brutally attacked Mangena with a sharp object.

In a statement released by the police, the ZRP revealed: “The suspects, identified as Trinity, Benito, and Mashelly, along with three other unknown individuals, struck Mlamuleli Mangena on the head with an unknown sharp object after an argument concerning a girlfriend.”

The gang’s violence did not end with Mangena. Another man, 30-year-old Tinashe Chirenje, was also targeted and viciously attacked during the same incident.

“The suspects attacked Chirenje with both a machete and an axe, leaving him severely injured,” added the police.

Chirenje was later rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care. His condition remains critical.

The ZRP has successfully apprehended three of the six suspects, while the other three remain at large. Law enforcement officers are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of the remaining assailants to come forward.

“Anyone with details about the suspects should report to the nearest police station as the investigation continues,” the police advised.
