Man Arrested For Raping Two Daughters Charged With 3 Counts Of Rape
A Kenzamba man who, on numerous occasions, raped his two minor daughters appeared in court yesterday charged with three counts of rape.
The 41-year-old man of Karonde village pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before Chinhoyi provincial magistrate Noel Mupeiwa.
However, Magistrate Mupeiwa found him guilty after overwhelming evidence against him.
He was sentenced to 16 years on count one and two.
The other additional 12 years were for the third count.
Altogether he was sentenced to 28 years in jail.
Magistrate Mupeiwa suspended six years of the sentence on condition of good behaviour.
He will serve an effective 22 years in jail.
Prosecuting, Nyasha Sibesha told the court that on a date unknown to the State but from January to July 2020 and at night the man, would sneak into his daughters’ bedroom hut and rape one of the daughters and threaten them with death.
After deflowering the daughter, he ordered her not to divulge the case.
He then left for his bedroom hut.
On the second count, on the date unknown to the prosecutor, but during the month of July and during the night, the minor was sleeping in the bedroom hut with her sister.
The man, sneaked inside her blankets and removed her pants and raped her once.
The matter came to light with her mother, Elizabeth Chechirimba, who asked her and she revealed the matter.
On the third count, the court heard that from October 2018 to September 2019, the man, was residing with his family at Kanyemba, village, Karoi.
He was left in the custody of the family while his wife Chechirimba, had gone for maternity at Chitindiva clinic, Chundu.
During the night, he entered the room where his 12-year-old daughter was sleeping with other siblings.
He went to the minor and removed her pants and she screamed but threatened her not to scream.
He dropped his trousers to the knee level and raped her once, the court heard.
She was once again threatened with death if she divulged the act to anyone.
The minor did not tell anyone.
He continued with his act of raping her several times up to the time they relocated to Karondo village in Kenzamba in October 2019.
He once again continued to rape his daughter several occasions, until July 11, 2020, when her mother saw that her pants were soiled with blood stains.
She revealed the abuse to her mother leading to his arrest.
