South African multi-award-winning singer Makhadzi is topping trends after it was reported that the singer has parted ways with Open Mic Productions after three years.

A local publication reports that the celebrated Limpopo-born musician has decided to part ways with Open Mic Productions after three years.

In a statement published by the publication, Makhadzi was quoted as:

“I signed a three-year contract with Open Mic in March 2020. I was waiting for them to maybe talk to me about how we’ll work together, but no one came to me. That’s why I decided to send a final email to say I was aware that the contract had ended.”

However, despite this development, Open Mic Productions is yet to issue a statement on whether Makhadzi is still signed under them.

In recent months, Makhadzi and Open Mic have been topping trends for the wrong reasons. In 2022 Sunday World reported that the record label and Makhadzi were dragged to the courts over an endorsement deal.

They were dragged to the courts with sneaker brand Kicks Kokovha in an R8.2 million lawsuit for failure to promote the sneaker line.

Open Mic Productions rubbished the claims in the wake of the legal woes. Makhadzi’s bookings of late have been marred with drama, from snubbing events to unruly behaviour, such is the case in Zimbabwe.

However, despite her fair share of drama, Makhadzi has become one of Mzansi’s finest. To cap her illustrious career that spans years, she has won several accolades which, includes:
