A cashier supervisor at Sino Africa has been charged with theft amounting to a staggering $70,000 from his employer.
The accused, Ye Xiano Chen, stands accused of keeping money meant for the business and allegedly sending it to his wife in China.
According to the State, the incident came to light when Sino Africa’s general manager, Zhang Xiang, conducted a routine spot check.

The manager discovered that Chen was short of US$70,000 from the amount entrusted to him for safekeeping.
This discovery prompted further investigation into the matter.
During interrogation, Chen allegedly made a shocking confession – he had sent the entire US$70,000 to his wife in China.

Chen appeared before Harare magistrate Munashe Chibanda on Wednesday to face charges related to theft.
The State, represented by Grace Mugocheke, outlined the allegations and presented evidence against the accused.
