Zimbabweans are mourning the death of Peter “Peetah” Morgan, the lead singer of the Grammy-award-winning reggae band Morgan Heritage.

Peter Anthony Morgan, popularly known as Peetah passed away on Sunday the 25th of February.
His family confirmed the sad news through a statement on social media on Sunday evening. In a statement, they said:
“It is out of sincere love that we share that our beloved husband, father, son, and brother and lead singer of Morgan Heritage Peter Anthony Morgan has ascended today.
“Our family thanks you in advance for your overwhelming love and support, and we ask your continued prayers as we go through this process.
“We also ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of healing.”

Morgan Heritage, a highly acclaimed reggae musical group honored with the prestigious Grammy award, was led by the late Peter Anthony Morgan until his recent passing on February 25th.
Comprising five exceptionally talented siblings of renowned reggae artist Denroy Morgan—Una Morgan, Roy ‘Gramps’ Morgan, Nakhamyah ‘Lukes’ Morgan, and Memmalatel ‘Mr Mojo’ Morgan—the group showcased a unique blend of skills contributing to their exceptional sound.
Under Peetah’s leadership, Morgan Heritage achieved three Grammy Awards and produced major hits like “Don’t Haffi Dread (To Be Rasta),” and “Down by the River.”
