Health Ministry Scraps Math Requirement for Nurse Recruits

In a surprising move, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has seemingly scrapped out O’level Mathematics as a requirement for General Nurse Training.

For years, Maths, English and Science with at least a grade of C or better have always been a basic requirement for one to qualify for nurse training.

However, the Ministry of Health and Child Care recently released an advert for May intake, and Mathematics was not stated as a requirement.

The advert, which was seen by a publication, ZimLive, states that a minimum of 5 O′ Level subjects with passes in English Language, a Science subject and three others is now required. Part of the advert reads:

“Applications for the three-year Diploma Nurse Training to be conducted by the Ministry of Health and Child Health Care (MoHCC) are invited from suitably qualified holders of the following qualifications.

– A minimum of 5’0′ Level subjects with passes in English Language, and a Science subject and three others (that exclude practical subjects which are Fashion and Fabrics, Metal Work, Graphic Art, Art and Woodwork) at Grade C or better obtained from not more than two sittings with full certificates as Examination Result Slips are not accepted.”

The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has announced that its banking halls will be open this Sunday exclusively for customers looking to purchase electricity tokens in USD currency.

This temporary arrangement is a response to the nation’s transition from the Zimbabwe Dollar (ZWL) to the newly introduced gold-backed ZiG currency.

“The transition to the ZiG currency, announced last Friday, has necessitated a temporary suspension of electricity token sales in the local currency,” explained a ZESA spokesperson.

To ensure that our customers are not left in the dark during this transitional phase, we have decided to open our banking halls this Sunday for USD transactions.”

This move comes after a period of confusion and inconvenience for customers, as the sudden shift in currency caught many off guard.

We understand the frustration this may cause, and we are doing everything in our power to accommodate our customers during this time,” the spokesperson added.
