DA Suspends Renaldo Gouws over Racist Videos
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has finally acted against Renaldo Gouws the newly elected South African legislator who is accused of recording and posting racist videos. The DA has just entered into a GNU with the ANC.

Previously, the DA had been hesitant to take action saying that they were verifying if the crass videos were authentic. Renaldo also alleged that the video was generated by AI (an excuse now used by everyone including Zimbabwean tenderpreneurs like Wicknell Chivayo).
At one moment, sentiments were that Renaldo was a young person when he said these things. Even Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader, Gayton McKenzie had come out in support of the Boer saying he deserved a second chance.
However, the emergence of a second video in which he is heard blatantly saying, “Kill the kaffir, kill the n*gga”, seems to have washed away the whole ‘forgive sins of the past' sentiment. It seems that after they have been pressured to take this action, the DA has finally acted.

Just yesterday John Steenhuisen had said what Renaldo said was 16 years ago when he was young and irresponsible. However, Helen Zille the party chair had said that if it was true that Renaldo had said those things, then he was finished.
The DA said: “The DA has established that the video, in which Gouws uses execrable language, is genuine and not as fake as initially suspected.”
Race and racism remain hot topics in South Africa since the black majority were subjected to decades of segregation and discrimination under one of the most racist systems ever – Apartheid.
Although, the Apartheid system was formally ended in 1994 with the coming of black majority rule under Nelson Mandela, many Afircans in the country feel a lot still needs to be done to redress the socio-economic imbalances created by the system.
