Two Men Caught Cheating in ZIMSEC Maths Exam
In a plot twist worthy of a comedy sketch, two men from Harare found themselves in hot water after attempting to pull off a rather audacious exam heist at Matthew Rusike College in Epworth.
The dynamic duo, 37-year-old Paddington Chataika and his partner in crime, Joseph Murimba, were nabbed by officials from the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) after a tip-off that could rival any detective novel.

The scheme was simple, yet flawed: Chataika, perhaps feeling the pressure of solving quadratic equations, decided to outsource his mathematical woes to Murimba.
The plan? Murimba would sit the exam in Chataika's stead, armed with a forged passport photocopy that featured his own photo but Chataika's details. It was a classic case of mistaken identity, but with a twist of academic desperation.

Enter Tadzoka Chirima, the Harare Depot Loss Control Manager, who swooped in like a hawk on a mission. After a quick chat with the school headmaster, Tendai Mararike, Chirima and Mararike confronted Murimba.
Under the intense scrutiny of their combined gaze, Murimba cracked faster than a faulty calculator, confessing to the whole charade. Meanwhile, Chataika was reportedly lurking in the school car park, perhaps nervously calculating his odds of getting away with it.
Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the Harare provincial police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest stating, “Police arrested two men in connection with an examination sitting at a college in Epworth. The two are facing fraud charges.” It seems the only thing these two managed to calculate correctly was how to get caught.
Adding to the comedy of errors, Murimba was also found clutching a police form claiming his identification particulars had been stolen and reported to the ZRP Hatfield.
