Government Delivers Good News To Zimbabwean Citizens In The Diaspora Regarding passports
The government recently did a press conference regarding the renewal of passports for Zimbabweans in the diaspora.
The announcement was made yesterday by the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Cain Mathema.
Mathema said that Zimbabwean citizens will now be able to get their passports renewed at their nearest Zimbabwean embassy.
This new development follows a debilitating backlog of passports which had seen some people being asked to come back in 2022.
Speaking at a press conference Minister Mathema said,
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade should regularize the movement of the diplomatic bag to allow people in the diaspora to apply and pay for passports at the embassies nearest to them.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade will then submit the applications through their head office to the external section of the passport office under the central registry department.
The passport office will then expeditiously process the passports within 10 working days and send them back to the diaspora through The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade” he said.
