The incapacitated doctors who have downed tools for over 2 months after a protracted standoff with the government over poor working conditions and inadequate salary,   issued a statement today in which they turned down both offers, claiming that they fail to address the fundamentals.

The government yesterday granted a reprieve for fired doctors who were dismissed after being found guilty of absenteeism. The decision came after a meeting between the government and Catholic bishops who made a petition regarding the sacked doctors. In a bid to break the deadlock, Econet’s Founder, Strive Masiyiwa’s Higher Life Foundation this week offered striking doctors an incentive of ZWL 5000(US310) on top of their current government salaries, to resume work.

In a statement issued by the  ZDHA on their official Twitter account, the doctors expressed the solutions offered failed to address completely the demands of the doctors for a salary whose value is preserved despite soaring inflation as well as the provision of adequate and appropriate tools of the trade.
