Jah Prayzah Found Guilty of Violating Tax Laws

Jah Prayzah's entertainment company JP Entertainment has been found guilty of violating tax laws. The company was fined for contravening the provisions of the Income Tax and Value-Added Tax Act.
The company was represented by Fortunate Desouza, who was accompanied to court by the musician’s manager, Keen Mushapaidze, and their lawyer Arthur Marara. Desouza pleaded guilty to the offense on behalf of the company before Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti. The company was ordered to pay a fine of $18 000 on each count.
It is said that on March 9, 2021, ZIMRA case officer, Fadzayi Mukora, did checks on the company to investigate whether or not it was compliant with the submission of income tax, VAT, and other taxes. Mukora found out that Jah Prayzah Entertainment was not compliant.
The company was not submitting income tax returns or paying VAT and it had not submitted income tax returns for 2019, and there was no VAT payment from October 2018 to January 2021.
