No More 10-Year American Visa For Zimbabweans
The United States Embassy (US) has reduced the visa duration for Zimbabweans from a 10 year period to a year.
This has far-reaching economic consequences both for the individual and the country.
The US visa costs US$150 so this new development means Zimbabweans must now part away with US$1500 over a period of 10 yrs.
The US removal of the 10-year Visa has nothing to do with economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the global powerhouse. but it has everything to do with the Zimbabwean government.
Leading Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono spoke to the Ambassador of the US to Zim regarding why the arrangement has been stopped.
“The US wants to give Zimbabwe a 10-year visa but the problem is about being reciprocal. The Zimbabwean government has been refusing to issue out 10-year visas to Americans coming to Zimbabwe. America cannot issue a 10-year visa if the Zimbabwean government is refusing to do the same” he said.
This will make it inconvenient for Zimbabwean business people to apply for a visa every year so that they go and do business in the US, for they will go and line up at the US embassy every year.
