One of the hottest voices on the South African music scene Sha Sha, real name Charmaine Mapimbiro, has proudly declared that she is a Zimbabwean & not a South African.

She said this in a tweet after she was being considered as one of the nominees for South African Music Awards (SAMA) 2020.

The singer born and raised in Zimbabwe & her home town is Mutare “Dangamvura”. She spent some of her time in South Africa and Bulawayo where she learnt isiZulu due to the separation of her family.

She was one of the hottest voices in South Africa as she rode the Amapiano trend that went viral and continues to hog the limelight.

She has evidently won the hearts of South Africans who wanted to nominate her for local awards. Due to her being a Zimbabwean, she can't be nominated in South Africa as the nominations are only reserved for locals.

She has, however, been nominated in Zimbabwe. Her album Mutare has been nominated for the best album and she has been also nominated as one of the best female artists in Zimbabwe.

Sha Sha is not the only foreign-based Zimbabwean artist who has left a mark. Singers like Brian Nhira & Tinashe have produced world-class songs in the USA. Jah Seed is also a member of the popular South African trio, Bongo Muffin.

There was also a rumour that popular reggae artist Lucky Dube had a Zimbabwean father.

Below is one of Sha Sha's hottest songs.
