Description of scholarship
The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship offers a small selection of highly talented prospective students the opportunity to pursue a degree in a selected number of fields at Utrecht University.
This scholarship programme is highly selective. Only candidates showing the highest achievement and promise may apply.
Information
Value and purpose of grant:
Bachelor: 9 scholarships available with value between EUR 5.000 and EUR 17.000
Master: 20-25 scholarships available in form of tuition fee-waiver or tuition fee-waiver + EUR 11.000 living expenses
Grant award period:
The scholarship is granted for the full duration of the study programme.
Requirements
– Not hold an EU/EEA passport nor be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans.
– Have obtained a secondary school and/or Bachelor degree outside the Netherlands
– Academic excellence and promise in the proposed field of study (top 10% of graduating class).
– Outstanding academic results shown by grades, test scores, writing sample, letters of recommendation.
– High-quality application to both study programme and scholarship programme (completeness, accuracy, consistency).
– Excellent and relevant motivation letter (academic content, intercultural and communication skills, personal motivation).

Grant provider:
The funds for the scholarships come from the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship Fund, established by Utrecht University and from contributions by Utrecht University alumni.
Application procedure:
Bachelor:
It is not possible to apply for the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship. The selection committee of the programme will select eligible candidates on the basis of the selection criteria mentioned above. The selected candidates will be offered an Utrecht Excellence Scholarship at the latest in May.
Master:
After submitting an application for a Master’s programme, you can launch an application for the UES in Osiris Online Application
