Breaking News: AK 47 Wielding Armed Robbers Loot Makoni Forex Dealers
A group of armed robbers this evening pounced on forex dealers plying their trade at Makoni Shopping center and made away with cash and a Toyota Allion.
According to eye-witnesses, the armed robbers arrived in a white double cab which had no plates and they were wearing masks when they disembarked from their vehicle.
The robbers were holding AK47 riffles and they allegedly fired shots in the air before pouncing on the money changers robbing them of their forex, bond notes and a Toyota Allion belonging to one of the money changers.
The movie-style robbery lasted less than 10 minutes and it took place in front of Makoni’s Chicken Inn outlet. The swiftness and organisation around the robbery left onlookers stunned.
According to the eye-witnesses, police officers who were manning a roadblock close to the shopping center fled when they heard the gunshots.
The total amount of money stolen has not yet been ascertained. National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi was still to be briefed about the case when he was contacted by The Sunday Mail Online.
