Nyanga based siblings Shadreck and Tendai Sapurango have been sentenced with a two-year jail term each following their conviction of culpable homicide after the death of their father whom they assaulted on allegations of witchcraft.
The siblings were each sentenced to four years behind bars but will each serve an effective two years after two years of their sentences were suspended.
They appeared at the Mutare High Court before Justice Hlekani Mwayera this Friday.
The court heard that on the 17th of May last year, the two brothers accused their father of bringing misfortunes to the family through sorcery and as a result dragged him to the maize field where they tied him to a pole before assaulting him with an iron bar and shambok.
The deceased sustained serious injuries and died moments after the attack.
