Obadiah Moyo Charged With Criminal Abuse Of Office

Zimbabwe's Health Minister Obadiah Moyo was arrested and detained at Rhodesvile Police on Friday by the ZRP over alleged criminal abuse of office in what is being termed the Covidgate scandal.

This was posted by Journalist Brezh Malaba who tweeted and said:

Health minister Obadiah Moyo has been arrested. He’s at Rhodesville police station. It’s in connection with procurement contract corruption.

Obadiah was reportedly arrested by ZACC on Thursday and according to sources he was questioned and released.

ZACC, however, denied that they did not arrest the minister but yesterday evening ZACC commissioner John Makamure confirmed his arrest and said:

Yes, he has been arrested and is in detention. That’s all I can say for now.

The Minister appeared before Harare Magistrate yesterday was charged with three counts of criminal abuse of office.
