Love affairs between students and lecturers appear interesting and worth trying for most female students, however, most students who have been involved in these affairs testify that they are toxic.
Every student is a potential victim of these relationships when they turn sour.
These relationships are detrimental to students in many ways.
Affairs between students and lecturers manifest in two ways either consent or by force, however, most of them nowadays are by consent.
Consent comes into existence when a lecturer and student freely and voluntarily agree to have an affair, possibly because they are in love, however, these instances are rare as most lecturers have their wives and families.
On the other hand force plays a significant role in these affairs as most students do not know what they are capable of until they are concerned.
Some students agree to a relationship on a need basis that is whenever they are in need of money or help with their school work they turn to their lecturer lovers.
This has bridged gaps amongst students as some find themselves dating one lecturer leading to poor performances in school and suicidal thoughts.
Relationships that are a result of mutual consent can turn toxic especially as they, by nature are not long-lasting.
This is because lecturers tend to dictate the pace and nature of the liason, basing on the difference in ages and also because it is the lecturers who have deep pockets.
The outcome of these relationships are unwanted pregnancies and STIs.
These affairs account for the rise in campus pregnancies and unfortunately an increase in abortion as students try to deal with the after-effects.
Students may also face psychological trauma for some of these students who enter into these relationships.
This is because most of them do not know when they are being lied to again have no platforms to discuss these issues.
