Government bans Baby Powder
The Ministry Health of has issued a public notice ordering the removal of Purity Essentials Baby Powder from the shelves after the product was found to contain unacceptable levels of asbestos which causes cancer.
According to the notice, both Purity & Essentials Baby Powder and Purity & Elizabeth Anne's Essentials Baby Powder of sizes 100g, 200g and 400g have been recalled. This comes after the manufacturer Tiger Brands of South Africa recalled the products from the shops after test samples showed an unacceptably high levels of asbestos. The asbestos is said to cause a rare cancer called mesothelioma.
