Then I met her – a woman who, like me, was divorced and had two children from her previous marriage. We met online and hit it off immediately, despite the distance between us – I live in South Africa and she is in Zimbabwe.

For several months, we dated online, getting to know each other and sharing our stories. Everything was going well until she suggested something that caught me off guard. She proposed that we should take the kids to other relatives so that we could start afresh.
At first, I was taken aback by her suggestion. The thought of separating from my child was painful. She wanted us to have a fresh start, without the complications and challenges that come with blending families.

It's not an easy decision to make, and it's one that requires careful consideration and open communication. For now we are taking things slowly and I have lost faith in our relationship. I do not want a relationship where my children's best interests are not given preference. We are still navigating this journey together, but I am heartbroken.
