Ramaphosa said he sent the message on the basis of the result declared by ZEC.
He added that he was going to sit down with the observers and analyse their findings before making any declarations.
The ANC leader said that all elections are disputed and has urged the aggrieved parties to seek redress through the proper channels.
Ramaphosa speaking today about Zimbabwe
– ZEC made a declaration, we issued our congratulations
– we’re going to sit down with observers and analyse everything
– Elections are always disputed/accepted, disputes must be through correct channels— Zim Media Review (@ZimMediaReview) August 29, 2023
The Zanu-PF which is desperate for congratulatory messages as endorsement of Mnangagwa's electoral victory had gone to town after Cyril Ramaphosa sent a congratulatory message on X to the Zanu-PF leader.
However, others are of the opinion that the ANC is an interested party after the party's excitable Secretary General, the clueless Fikile Mbalula spent the whole weekend celebrating Mnangagwa's victory on social media platforms.
