Joyous Celebration Choir Member Eric Moyo Dies
Zimbabwean gospel musician, who was also a member of the Joyous Celebration choir, Eric Moyo, has died. He was 41.

The South Africa-based music sensation reportedly died at a hospital in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. The Chronicle reported that Moyo collapsed while on stage performing with Joyous celebration.
Fellow gospel musician Cliff M, who was Eric Moyo’s close friend, shared the heartbreaking news on his social media page:

Eric Moyo first shot to fame when he was a contestant in Zimbabwe’s talent search show, A-Academy in 2006. He serenaded viewers and stormed into the top 3.
Determined to pursue his musical journey and grab every opportunity, he joined the inaugural Idos East Africa. He won the competition, beating Nichollete Kiiga of Kenya.

As part of the prize, Eric clinched a US$80,000 cash prize and a Sony BMG recording contract.
In 2011, Eric Moyo met the co-founder of Joyous Celebration, Lindelani Mkhize, who said he wanted a Zimbabwean to join the choir and Moyo was the perfect fit.
However they lost contact and Mkhize roped in fellow Zimbabwean singer Mkhululi Bhebhe, who was readily available. Bhebhe went on to drop the smash hit Ichokwadi with Joyous Celebration.
In 2014, Eric and Mkhize met in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and the initiated the process for Moyo to join the choir. He would go on to joins Joyous Celebration later that year.
Eric Moyo’s fans and fellow celebrities are mourning his untimely death.
