Madzibaba Ishmael's Cult: Late UZ Prof was Poisoned
A University of Zimbabwe professor, whose untimely death, occurring approximately two years ago at Madzibaba Ishmael’s shrine, was poisoned.
Startling revelations from postmortem results, finally delivered to the family on Monday, confirm the professor’s poisoning at the shrine.
For the past two years, these postmortem findings remained concealed within the confines of Nyabira Police Station.
They are only surfacing now to unravel the mystery surrounding Prof Muwati’s death.
The Muwati family, grappling with this unsettling revelation, is now on a quest to reclaim what they assert rightfully belongs to the late professor—30 cattle, two vehicles, including a Honda Fit, and a grinding mill, all of which mysteriously vanished following his demise.
Echoing the Muwati family's distress, Martin said:
Prof had 30 cattle, two vehicles that included a Honda Fit, a Grinding mill, and a laptop, but all these were never handed over to us.
Prof Muwati joins a list of numerous individuals reportedly interred without proper burial rites at the Lily Farm.
Following the family’s exhumation of his remains, Prof Muwati was buried at his rural abode in Mhondoro-Ngezi.
However, the belated disclosure of his postmortem results revealed he was poisoned under nefarious circumstances. Martin added:
Something suspicious has been happening in Nyabira.
Madzibaba Ishmael's Cult: Late UZ Prof was Poisoned
Martin revealed how the family’s attempts to secure justice following Prof Muwati’s demise were being thwarted at each turn.
Efforts to file a police report against Madzibaba Ishmael, implicated in the professor’s death, were stopped by the then Officer-in-Charge, Musekiwa.
The OiC cited purported threats posed by Madzibaba Ishmael’s faction.
The reluctance to pursue legal recourse was a ploy to obstruct their retrieval of the late professor’s possessions.
Reports suggest that Madzibaba Ishmael, known for his cult following, took assets belonging to his congregants, including Prof Muwati, leaving families bereft of their inheritance.
Moreover, cult members residing at the compound were subjected to exploitative labour. Madzibaba Ishmael reaping the benefits at their expense.
Muwati’s personal effects, including bank cards, were not recovered.
Discovered lifeless on June 6, 2022, Muwati was hastily interred at Lily Farm. His relatives intervened and demanded the exhumation of his remains.
