Erstwhile Police Officer Sentenced for Pilfering Bricks
An erstwhile police officer, Manas Mbano, aged 43, has been handed a custodial sentence of 12 months for the nefarious act of pilfering bricks from the esteemed Hwange Colliery Company.
However, the sagacious judge saw fit to suspend four months of the sentence for a period of five years, contingent upon Mbano's good behaviour and abstention from similar peccadilloes.
The remaining eight months shall be served in the form of 280 hours of community service, a fitting penance for his transgressions, to be carried out in the coal-mining town of Hwange.
According to the court records, Mbano's downfall came on May 3rd, when he was apprehended in the act of unloading the purloined bricks in a secluded area near the GVZ Leisure Centre.

The bricks, bearing the mark of ‘Wankie Bricks', aroused suspicion, as Mbano was unable to provide a satisfactory account of their provenance.
In a separate case, Willard Ncube, a 23-year-old resident of Filabusi, received a 12-month prison sentence for the egregious crime of robbery.
However, the benevolent judge saw fit to suspend two months of the sentence, contingent upon Ncube's good behaviour, and set aside a further two months, pending restitution.
The court was informed that on April 27th, Ncube, in cahoots with his accomplice, Philani Moyo, who remains at large, accosted the complainant and her friend on Fox Road in Victoria Falls, and, at knifepoint, robbed the complainant of her cell phone.
Ncube's nefarious plans were foiled when the complainant's screams attracted the attention of a nearby security guard, leading to his swift detention and subsequent arrest.
