The Zimbabwe Republic Police has shared more details on the Mazowe accident that claimed 5 lives. The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon after kombi collided with a truck.

The kombi was reportedly travelling from Mvurwi to Harare, while the truck was heading towards Mazowe.
In a post shared in their official X page, the police confirmed the tragic accident which happened at the 37 kilometre peg along Harare-Bindura road
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred this afternoon on 18/06/24 at the 37-kilometre peg along Harare-Bindura Road.”

The police shed light on how the accident happened. According to the police report, commuter omnibus carrying 18 passengers collided head on with a truck which was had 3 passengers. The kombi reportedly side swiped with a Toyata Belta vehicle.
“A kombi carrying 18 passengers was involved in a head-on collision with a MAN truck with three passengers on board. Subsequently, the kombi side-swiped with a Toyota Belta vehicle with three passengers on board.”
Tragically, five people died in the accident while 13 others were injured. The injured were ferried to Concession Hospital for treatment while the bodies of the dead victims were also transported to the same hospital’s mortuary for post-mortem.

The identities of the victims are yet to be identified by their next of kin and the police are set to release more details today.
