Jealous Police Officer Kills ex-Lover and Her Cousin
In a devastating turn of events, a police officer has taken three lives, including his own, in a shocking act of jealousy. The incident occurred in Wesley, Port Alfred, Eastern Cape, leaving the community reeling.
The Victims:
- Siviwe Ncanywa (23): A young woman who had recently broken up with the police officer.
- Siyabonga Malimani (35): Siviwe's cousin, who bravely tried to intervene.
- The Police Officer (34): The ex-boyfriend, consumed by obsession and rage.
On a fateful Sunday evening, Siviwe was at a local tavern with her cousin when her ex-boyfriend, a police officer, stormed in. Unable to accept their breakup, he demanded that Siviwe accompany him outside. When she refused, he dragged her away. Siyabonga, witnessing the altercation, followed them outside. The police officer, brandishing his firearm, warned Siyabonga to stay away. Ignoring the threat, Siyabonga paid the ultimate price—he was shot in the chest.
Their aunt, Danyiswa Ncanywa, who is also a local ward councillor said that the news of Siviwe and Siyabonga's passing has left them distraught.

She said: “I was home when I received a call from their other cousin to inform me about them being shot. I was informed that Siviwe wanted to break up with the police officer, but he wouldn't hear of it. They began dating last year and then they started having problems which forced her to end their relationship. The police officer then began being obsessed with Siviwe and started stalking her everywhere she went.”
The police officer pointed a firearm at him and ordered Siyabonga to walk away or he would shoot him. The cop then shot a warning shot and I think Siyabonga did not take him seriously.
The police boyfriend allegedly shot Siyabonga in the chest. Minutes later he shot Siviwe also in the chest and the head. “Both of them were declared dead on the scene,” she said.

Colonel Priscila Naidu of the Eastern Cape SAPS confirmed that the police were investigating an incident where three people, including a police officer, were found dead with gunshot wounds. The officer's jealousy had driven him to commit this heinous act. In the early hours of Monday, he turned the gun on himself, ending his own life on a gravel road in Mooifontein, Port Alfred.
