Students Injured as Bus Collides with Train

In a tragic development, a school bus carrying students was hit by a train at the Willton Level Crossing in Mutare this morning.

Twelve Versatile Academy College students were injured after their school bus collided with a goods train.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities. The injured students have since been taken to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

According to the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ), preliminary investigations indicate the bus driver failed to follow level crossing rules and tried to beat the train to the level crossing, resulting in the accident.

The driver was also reportedly wearing earphones when the accident happened and attempted to flee the scene.
