Emotional Julius Malema Says EFF Members Can Leave
Soweto, South Africa – Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema delivered a fiery address to party members at a community hall in Orlando East, Soweto. This marked the first time Malema publicly discussed the departure of his former deputy, Floyd Shivambu, who recently resigned from the party.
In a marathon two-hour speech to the Gauteng Provincial Ground Forces Forum, Malema minced no words. He declared:
If you want to leave the EFF, better do it now.
He pointed out that those who had already left were the same individuals who had advocated for the party to join the GNU. Malema's refusal to align with the GNU stemmed from his concerns about the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus).
Malema emphasised:
We're turning a new page. If you're still yearning for the past, follow those who've departed.
Malema also addressed the hushed whispers among party members.
We know who's quietly plotting their exit. Even if they keep mum, their friends and relatives spill the beans. Many await the outcomes of the People's Assembly – if they don't get deployed, they'll jump ship to the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.

The EFF leader lamented the loss of soldiers who were once ready for battle. He admitted that he was pained by Shivambu and others' decision to leave:
It hurts that our ranks have thinned. But crying over spilled milk won't help.
Regarding rumors of an alliance with the MK (uMkhonto weSizwe), Malema clarified, “Our partnership ends with the Progressive Caucus. Don't believe everything you read in the news.”
He urged party members not to be disheartened by Shivambu's resignation. Malema asserted:
We must rebuild our walls. Opportunists masquerading as loyalists won't betray us.
In a rallying cry, he declared:
Mourning ends today. Put on your boots, red berets, and continue the struggle.
Malema concluded by announcing that spokesperson Sinawo Thambo would replace Shivambu in Parliament, vowing to dismantle anything resembling the departed deputy's influence within the EFF.
