In the latest showbiz drama, music producer and DJ Maphorisa, whose real name is Themba Sekowe, is under fire for not crediting Samthing Soweto in the hit Amapiano track “Amalanga Awafani.”
The song, featuring Mas Musiq, Lawd Weezy, TO Starquality, and DJ Maphorisa, was released under Piano Hub, owned by Kabza De Small, and recorded at Maphorisa's studio.
When the track dropped, Samthing Soweto shared the artwork with a broken heart emoji, sparking outrage among fans. “He made the song,” one fan commented. “He is the song. This is typical of Maphorisa,” another added.

“Why would you sabotage that song? You just sabotaged yourself because you want to own all the masters,” Maphorisa vented.
Maphorisa accused Samthing Soweto of trying to derail the song's success. “His album, ‘Isphithiphiti,' was recorded in my house. Stop sabotaging us and making us look bad. We share this, but you want all the masters for yourself. This song was supposed to be great,” he added.
Maphorisa stressed that music is a business and accused Samthing Soweto of not taking his career seriously. “People were asking for the song, and it makes them happy when I play it. Now I look like the bad guy. He is playing with his luck and career. Everyone is copying him, Sir Trill, Daliwonga… Why did he leave The Soil?” Maphorisa questioned.
In a heated conclusion, Maphorisa remarked, “Talent alone won't help.”
