Zimbabwe music legend Winky D has expressed frustration following an unexpected hurdle to his planned 31 December crossover concert.
The star’s legal representatives, Tsunga Law International, disclosed that agreements made earlier this year with the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) have been overturned, with the venue prioritising another event on the same date.
In a statement issued on 6 December 2024, Winky D’s legal team confirmed the artist’s readiness to perform despite the setback.
“Winky D remains enthusiastic about delivering an exceptional crossover performance at HICC on December 31, 2024. His management team secured the venue as early as May 2024 and made all necessary arrangements for the show. Winky D values the connection he has with his fans and is dedicated to providing a memorable performance,” the statement reads.

However, the sudden change has created challenges.
“The venue owners have chosen to prioritise another event on the same date, which unfortunately disregards the agreement established with Winky D. Discussions are ongoing to address this issue, though we are unable to disclose further details at this time,” the legal team said.
The announcement sparked an outpouring of support and frustration from fans, who are standing firmly behind the artist.
