A pastor who is also a soccer coach was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Verulam Regional Court on Wednesday for raping a 9-year-old boy.

According to Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the incident took place in September 2023 when the victim and his friend spent the night at 57-year-old David Mkhanyisi Ntshulana's house after a football practice.
During the night, the victim woke up in pain with Ntshulana naked next to him but pleaded his innocence. The following morning, the soccer coach took the victim and his friend to the church where he is a pastor.
“The victim later told his friend about the traumatic experience, and his friend advised him to inform his mother. A case of rape was subsequently opened,” Netshiunda said.
