Family Riled Up as Pastor Rapes School-going Niece
Mpumalanga, South Africa – A 44-year-old pastor is accused of raping a Grade 11 learner who is also his relative. The incident occurred on Thursday, 3 October, in Sabie.
It is alleged the pastor called the teen to his place to pray for her after she had an infection on her leg.

When the victim came back from school, she went to the pastor's house, and he allegedly started flirting with her. According to the victim's aunt, the pastor allegedly started brushing the victim, kissed and touched her. The aunt alleged:
She told him she was uncomfortable with what he was doing, but he continued touching her.
She tried to fight him off, but he overpowered her and pushed her to the bedroom where he undressed and raped her.
It is alleged after the ordeal the pastor sent the victim WhatsApp voice messages stating that he admires her as she is a strong woman. He allegedly later asked her to delete the messages as he did not trust anyone.
He added that no one would understand their relationship as it's a divine connection. Media is in possession of the voice audio in which the pastor tells the victim how he feels about her.

The victim reported the matter to her family, and they went to open a case on Friday, 5 October.
The teenager's aunt told the media they were disappointed by the pastor's conduct. She said when they had problems, they would tell him, and he was a shoulder to cry on.
We trusted him with everything, but he took advantage of that. We even shared our problems with him, and he would provide counselling services.
We never thought he was capable of doing such awful things. I'm disappointed with his conduct.
The aunt said the pastor should remain behind bars.
Another family member added that they respected the suspect not knowing they were dealing with an evil man. She claimed that in the past there were rumours he was sneaking in on young girls, but they took them lightly.
We're angry because he took advantage of the kid's vulnerability. We trusted him as a leader, not knowing he's sneaking on our kids. We don't want to see him in this community again.
The 44-year-old appeared in the Sabie Magistrate Court on Friday, 11 October, facing rape and possession of an unlicenced firearm charges.
His case was postponed to Thursday, 17 October, for bail information. Mpumalanga police spokesman, Colonel Donald Mdluli, said police are calling for other victims to come forward.
