A Fawcett cash-in-transit crew lost $20 000 after they offered two unknown people transport while on duty.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has initiated an investigation following the theft of $20,000 in cash from a cash-in-transit vehicle on October 16, 2024.
The incident occurred in Masvingo and involved a vehicle owned by a private security firm that was tasked with transporting money from Beitbridge to Mutare on behalf of a client.
While en route, the security team stopped at Lutumba Service Centre and Machiloni, located in Beitbridge, where they picked up two unidentified individuals. These passengers were later dropped off at Rutenga and Ngundu.

It was only upon reaching Ngundu that the security personnel realized that a locked metal box, which contained the cash, had mysteriously disappeared from the vehicle.

A group of seven armed male suspects carried out a violent robbery at a local steel company in the industrial area of Belmont, Bulawayo, on Tuesday October 15, 2024.
The assailants who were armed with pistols and a pick, overpowered the security personnel and employees on duty.
The suspects tied up two security guards and the 12 workers using shoelaces to immobilize them. During the robbery, one of the workers sustained injuries after being struck on the head with a pick while trying to escape.
The robbers got away with valuables, including cellphones, before fleeing the scene for US$ 32,500 and ZAR 300 in cash.
