Sangoma Forces Herself on Boy with Mental Illness

A female sangoma was arrested after she allegedly forced herself on an underage boy who was suffering from mental illness.

Catherine Nhongo (39) stands accused of aggravated indecent assault after allegedly having lula lula with the 17-year-old boy.

The 17-year-old boy’s sister met Catherine while she was returning from shopping. The sister explained her brother’s difficulties in speaking and other disabilities. Catherine then offered to help heal the boy, and the sister agreed.

After inviting the sister to her home, the nasty sangoma requested beer and cigarettes to conduct her spiritual rituals. The boy’s brother went to buy the requested items.

Catherine then started consuming the  items. She also directed the boy’s brother to stuff mealie meal in the boy’s mouth.

She proceeded to touch the boy across his body and told his siblings to leave the house.

The sangoma claimed she needed privacy to help the boy who was unwell. The family  complied, believing they were supporting a healing process.

The siblings heard unsettling noises from the house. After about 15 minutes, the boy emerged, raising his hands in distress.

He used his brother’s phone to type a chilling message, exposing that the female sangoma had r_ped him. The brother quickly alerted his sisters, who swiftly called the police.

Nhongo tried to flee the scene but was caught. She appeared before regional magistrate Donald Ndirowei, who remanded her in custody as the court determines if she should be considered for bail.
