Musician Ti Gonzi, whose real name is Tinashe Gonzara, is embroiled in a dispute with Prophet Walter Magaya, the founder of PHD Ministries after one of the prophet’s bodyguards allegedly sold him a car that has since been confiscated by the Criminal Investigations Department’s Vehicle Theft Squad (CID-VTS).
The car, a Toyota Mark X, is believed to have either been stolen or smuggled, and Ti Gonzi is now seeking answers and justice after the vehicle was seized.
In an interview, Ti Gonzi shared the details of the incident, revealing how he came to purchase the car, only for it to later be flagged by the authorities.
The musician explained that he had been experiencing problems with his old car, which led him to search for a replacement.
His inquiry eventually led him to Magaya’s bodyguard, known only as Tapiwa, who allegedly facilitated the sale of the vehicle at Magaya’s hotel.
“I only make money off music and that’s my only business. I make money from royalties, YouTube, and live shows, so I was struggling with my car which had been giving me problems for a while, and that’s why I decided to buy a new car,” Ti Gonzi explained.
He further detailed how he was referred to Tapiwa by someone in the community who claimed that Magaya’s bodyguard was selling a car in the Prospect area.

After meeting Tapiwa at the hotel, Ti Gonzi said there were initial delays, but the transaction was eventually concluded through a third party.
The sale seemed straightforward at first, with the musician purchasing the Toyota Mark X.
However, it wasn’t long before Ti Gonzi was approached by the CID’s Vehicle Theft Squad, who informed him that the car was not legally registered.
He was soon informed that the vehicle was likely either stolen or smuggled. The VTS began investigating the origins of the car, leading to the eventual confiscation of the vehicle from the musician.
“Within a week after I had brought the car, I started getting nagged by guys that claimed they were from VTS who said that this car was not registered in law,” Ti Gonzi revealed.
As the investigation unfolded, the musician attempted to reach out to Tapiwa, hoping for a resolution.
Tapiwa allegedly referred him to a police officer from Chitungwiza who could help mediate the situation.
However, the issue was not resolved, and Ti Gonzi demanded his money back from the bodyguard.
