UZ Student Sues Dad For Maintenance
Dad says he wasn't aware of the fees top-up
University of Zimbabwe student has taken her father to court, seeking support of $307 560.
Diana Banda stated that she was unable to access her findings because her father, Peter Banda, had failed to pay her tuition costs.
“I’d want him to increase my costs, Your Worship, so that I may access my results and proceed.”
“I’m not even sure if I passed or not. I’m sick of telling him all the time, and the deadline is approaching. We were supposed to get a 12% discount if we paid our fees on time, but he told me he needed to take care of my sister first”
Peter denied the claims and said she never said anything about the top-up and never showed him proof of payment.
“It’s our second time in this court. I never refused to pay fees for her, she is my daughter and I want her to prosper as well. She never showed me any proof of payment or school invoice, but she claims to be communicating with me.”
Presiding magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered Peter to pay $307 560 before the end of month.
